Regionalt Cancercentrum Stockholm/Gotland i samarbete med Cancerakademi Norr bjuder in till detta möte med syfte att öka kunskapen om pågående svensk och internationell forskning och praxis inom fältet komplementärmedicin/integrativ cancervård.
Mötet består av föreläsningar och modererade diskussioner (dag 1) samt workshops om patientrådgivning och komplementära metoder (dag 2).
Föreläsare inkluderar:
- Gary Deng, M.D. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, USA om användningen av naturpreparat bland cancerpatienter och patientrådgivning utifrån rådande evidens kring effekt och säkerhet.
- Miek Jong, PhD. Mittuniversitetet om befintlig forskning kring sk. mind-body metoder såsom yoga och mindfulness vid cancersjukdomar.
- Eran Ben-Arye, M.D. Unit of Complementary and Traditional Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, Haifa, Israel om kommunikation med patienter som använder komplementärmedicin.

Gary Deng, MD, PhD: Dr. Deng is Medical Director of the Bendheim Integrative Medicine Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University in New York. His professional expertise is in the use of an integrative medicine approach to help patients throughout the continuum of cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship. Dr. Deng has taken a leadership role in the emerging and evolving field of integrative oncology. He has built a robust integrative medicine physician practice and directs clinical services provided at the Bendheim Integrative Medicine Center at MSKCC. Dr. Deng is active in conducting research and developing innovations in the field. He is principal investigator of research projects on acupuncture, yoga and botanical agents. Dr. Deng has developed education programs for physicians, nurses, acupuncturists, massage therapist and yoga instructors. He is lead author of several integrative oncology clinical practice guidelines and numerous publications of clinical trial data, reviews and textbook chapters. Dr. Deng is frequently invited to give lectures internationally to both professional and lay audiences, and to review clinical trial protocols, manuscripts and grant applications. Dr. Deng received his medical degree from Beijing Medical University, China, and his Ph.D. degree in Microbiology and Immunology from University of Miami, Florida. He completed his clinical training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and research training at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Deng is a past president of the Society for Integrative Oncology. |

Miek Jong, DR: Dr Miek Jong studied Medical Biology at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) and obtained her PhD on the subject of cardiovascular disease. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the Berkeley National Laboratory (USA) afterwards and subsequently worked for 8 years within the Schwabe Pharmaceuticals Group as scientific affairs manager with responsibility for registrations of herbal and homeopathic medicinal products and clinical studies. From 2008-2018, Dr Jong worked at the Louis Bolk Institute (Netherlands) as managing director of the department Nutrition & Health, performing research in the area of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Miek Jong currently has a position as associate-professor in Health Sciences at Mid Sweden University (Sundsvall) and a part-time research position at the National Research Center in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NAFKAM), Artic University of Norway, Tromsø. Her research interests include a healthy lifestyle and integrative oncology. Dr Jong has published more than 150 papers, articles, and book chapters. |

Eran Ben-Arye, MD: Moshav Alonei-Aba 36005, e-mail: eranben@netvision.net.il ERANBE@clalit.org.il. Eran Ben-Arye has an MD degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and specialized in family medicine. Prof. Ben-Arye is a clinical associate Professor on the faculty of the Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, The Technion, Haifa, Israel, and has been the chairperson of the Israel Society for Complementary Medicine of the Israel Medical Association. He is the co-founder and director of the Unit of Complementary and Traditional Medicine at the Department of Family Medicine, Haifa, and the director of the Integrative Oncology Program within the Haifa and Western Galilee Oncology Service, Lin, Zebulon, and Carmel Medical Centers, Clalit Health Services. Prof. Ben-Arye is the Primary Researcher of the Middle East Research Group in Integrative Oncology (MERGIO) within the Middle East Cancer Consortium (MECC) and is an elected member of the Society for Integrative Oncology Board of Trustees. |
